Maintenance Operator

The City of Riceboro is seeking a Water, Sewer and General Maintenance personnel who’s duties will include, but not limited to:  performing operations within the City’s water, sewer and general maintenance operations.  Some specific daily responsibilities include:

Perform assigned maintenance functions.

Perform regular physical property inspections throughout the City.

Obtain certified water operator/sewer operator certificate within a reasonable period of service (within three years of employ).

Partner with contracted site managers to improve maintenance and repairs for water and sewer facilities.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

High School diploma plus 3 to 5 years of maintenance experience required in water, sewer, electrical, plumbing or mechanical operations.

Associates Degree or three (3) or more years of experience in facilities operations or equivalent combination of education and related experience a plus.

Must possess strong mechanical abilities, must be able to demonstrate ability to read blueprints.  Must possess basic plumbing and electrical and or mechanical skills.

Must be available to work overtime.

Must be able to operate various maintenance equipment i.e.:  backhoe, tractors, various lawn equipment.

Possession of valid state issued drivers license and safe driving record is required.

Qualified candidate must commit to getting CDL Drivers license within a reasonable time frame.

Riceboro currently shares an overlay district with both Liberty County and the City of Midway

Riceboro is currently in need of two appointments to the Design Review Board,

    1. Riceboro must appoint:

                                                    i.     One technical expert (such as an engineer or landscape architect)

                                                   ii.     One citizen representative (who resides within the incorporated city limits of Riceboro)


  1. Georgia Initiative for Community Housing  (Committee

The objective of the Initiative is to help communities create and launch a locally based plan to meet their housing needs.

  1. Liberty/Long Employers Committee

LLEC was established for the purpose of providing ongoing communication and links between the Ga Department of Labor and employers within the area.

The Georgia Employer Committee is dedicated to enhancing the employment related services provided by the Georgia Department of Labor and to facilitate communication and cooperation towards a strong partnership between the Department and the business community of Georgia.

The committees provide input and guidance in the development of policy and legislation by the Department of Labor as it impacts Georgia employers and employees.
