Mayor Joseph "Joe" Harris

Elected 2019

Mayor Joseph Joe Harris

Mayor Harris is a Riceboro native who got his start as the city's grant administrator upon graduation from Florida A&M University in 2009. After getting a front-row seat to local government, he decided to take a more active role in shaping Riceboro's future. This led to Mayor Harris volunteering on various committees and deepening his bond in the area.

Riceboro's unique quality is being a "small-knit community that loves everyone, and "everyone knows your name," says Mayor Harris. "We want to maintain that small-town feel while also experiencing growth. We want to advertise and make ourselves marketable so that small businesses are able to come to our city and feel welcome too."

During his first year in office, Mayor Harris' focus was on updating city operations and working with staff to ensure they have the tools needed to serve the public with excellence and pride. Current goals include marketing Riceboro as a business-friendly and business-ready city as well as empowering residents to work alongside local government.

As leaders in the city of Riceboro, we work to ensure pride in the past, present, and future of our city. The people of Riceboro are the heart of our community. We will work to provide for them and protect their needs. We will pursue smart growth so our community can improve its quality of life without forgetting our beginnings.
